Marine Parade Road Print
Details
Along Marine Parade Road stands Sea Breeze Lodge (No. 37), a grand bungalow dating back to the late 19th century. Built by Choa Kim Keat, a prominent Melaka-born businessman who settled in Singapore in 1886, the villa was once just 5 metres from the sea. For generations, it served as a seaside retreat for the Choa family, offering views of the coastline before land reclamation transformed the area.
Today, Sea Breeze Lodge is a conserved building, preserved as part of Singapore’s architectural and coastal heritage. Just nearby stands another familiar landmark—the former Paramount Hotel, which opened in 1983 and is now known as Village Hotel Katong. This art print captures the layered history of Marine Parade, blending its seaside past with the changing urban landscape that surrounds it today.
