Upper Thomson Road | Jalan Todak
Named after John Turnbull Thomson, the Government Surveyor and Chief Engineer of the Straits Settlements from 1841 to 1853, Upper Thomson Road is part of the long Thomson Road which was constructed to connect city center to the military bases in the north at Seletar and Sembawang.
The shophouse in the illustration is located at the junction between Upper Thomson Road and Jalan Todak (roughly translates as "Swordfish Road") which leads into Sin Ming and Shunfu Estates. Thomson Road is also a vehicular corridor connecting the North and South of Singapore. Besides geographically running through the center of Singapore across some of heartlands, it has less of the heavy vehicle traffic in the West or tricky junctions (i.e Serangoon Rd - Macpherson Rd). As such, it is a very popular cycling route for both commuting and leisure, especially over the weekends. The numerous food options along the route is a bonus as well.
A3 print: 29.7cm (H) x 42cm (W)
Frame: 42.3cm (H) x 52.2cm (W)
Printed on archival paper
Each print is individually autographed by the artist.
